About Jim Cuttino, PhD

Jim Cuttino joined Yokohama Tire in Cornelius, NC as the Director of Tire Development and Testing.  He received his BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University in 1985 and 1987 respectively, and then began his career in tires at the Michelin Americas Research and Development Center in Greenville, South Carolina.  He earned his Ph.D. in Precision Engineering and Metrology at North Carolina State University in 1994, and over the next 14 years he taught Mechanical Engineering at The University of Alabama and The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. 

Dr. Cuttino left teaching in 2009 to start Camber Ridge, a first of its kind tire testing facility in Charlotte, and subsequently sold the technology to LINK Engineering in 2017.  He joined LINK in 2017 as the Director of Tire Technology and Product Line, where he oversaw innovation, product development and testing related to tire technologies.  Among other activities, Jim is the Chair of the SAE Truck and Bus Tire Committee and is the current Secretary of the Tire Society.  He is the author of nine patents.
