Moderator: Byron Miller | SC Port Authority
Byron Miller leads all sales, marketing and business development efforts at SC Ports, growing and diversifying South Carolina’s cargo base.
Byron joined SC Ports in 1993 and worked in many leadership positions across the organization. Since he joined the commercial group in 2012, the Port of Charleston earned the title of the nation’s fastest growing top 10 seaport. Byron held several roles including director of sales where he worked collaboratively with many of SC Ports’ largest customers in the automotive, manufacturing and distribution sectors and helped to develop solutions for their end-to-end supply chain objectives.
A South Carolina native, Byron has been active with various professional associations and community organizations and was previously named the Charleston region’s “Transportation Leader of the Year” and the Propeller Club Member of the Year. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in business and French from The College of Charleston, with a concentration in global logistics.

James Blume | Michelin
James joined Michelin North America in July of 1982 and worked in mold manufacturing before joining the Supply Chain team. Held several roles within the Supply Chain team for mold manufacturing before taking the Supply Chain manager role at one of our tire manufacturing facilities in the upstate. From there I moved to the corporate headquarters where I was in several roles including Marketing & Sales as a Pricing Manager for Ultra High Performance and Light Truck tires, Export Coordinator/Inventory manager for Mining/Agriculture tires, Interco Steering and Performance manager, worldwide Distribution manager for the Mining Business Line, and now my current role as Interco Logistics Operations Manager.
Chris Hicks | Michelin
Chris is a 35 year employee with Michelin, started with the company in Canada in 1987. He’s spending most of his time in Supply Chain/Logistics organization working in several leadership rolls. His last 15 years dealing with Transportation and International activities. Currently in the Purchasing organization, responsible for Non TL Transportation strategy in the Region.
